This rural 2 bed house for cheap long term rentals in France, is located in the heart of the mountain village of Corneilla de Conflent, between spa town Vernet le Bains and Villefrance de Conflent. The village is located in the foothills of Mount Canigou, the highest peak in the eastern Pyrenees. The house comes with a large terrace, garage parking and beautiful mountain views. The house will ideally suit someone looking for peace & relaxation, but wants to have local services nearby.
Available for long term rentals for 3-4 months between May to September and November to March from €700 - €850 per month + bills.

The house has newly been refurbished and comprises 70m2 of living space, plus a large garage of 70m2. The house features high ceilings and large French windows which allow plenty of light to flood in. Outside there are 2 terraces providing 50m2 of outdoor space. The house has been totally rewired, new insulation installed and has new fittings throughout. There is a newly installed air-source heat pump which keeps the house cozy and warm throughout the winter. There is 200mbs fibre internet.
Ground floor
- There is a large garage for storage or parking 2 cars. The garage also houses a freezer and a washing machine.
First floor
Steps lead up externally from the lower terrace.
- You arrive into the entrance lobby and coat hanging cupboard.
- The lounge comes with a 55 in TV with 120mbs broadband fibre to the house.
- There is a dining area with table and chairs for 4-6 people.
- The kitchen comes with an induction hob, oven, extractor fan, dishwasher, fridge, microwave and toaster (there is a freezer in garage below).
- Bedroom 1 comes with a Queen-size double bed (160cm x 200cm), and a built-in wardrobe.
- Bedroom 2 has two single beds.
- The bathroom has a shower cubicle, wash basin and WC.
Outside
- The upper terrace is accessed from the living room. The lower terrace comes with extensive views of the mountains north and west. There is a garden shed for barbecue and outside furniture storage.
- Parking space is always available in front of garage doors plus plenty of room for a car or motorcycles within the garage. There is also a small car park across the road from the house.

Corneilla cheap long term rentals Pyrenees South France - Our Opinion
This house provides cheap long term rental accommodation for a couple or small family. The house would ideally suit people who enjoy hiking, cycling and the great outdoors. There are numerous beautiful walks direct from the village. Perpignan is 30 mins drive and has a local airport (with Ryanair flights) and a TGV train station (with fast train services to Paris and Barcelona, Spain). The fast internet connection makes this house ideal for remote working. The nearby ski resorts of Les Angles and Font Romeu can be accessed in 40 mins. Due to the location, a car will be necessary.

Area activities
The mountain village of Corneilla de Conflent is located between the spa town Vernet le Bains (2km) and Villefranche-de-Conflent (2km) - a medieval fortified village and an UNESCO World Heritage site. There are a number of restaurants located in both Villefranche and Vernet.
The village is situated at the foot of Mount Canigou (2784M), the famous Catalan mountain and a trail up to the mountain starts at 4km behind the house.
Corneilla de Conflent has a population of 530 people. There is a boulangerie and a small grocery shop in the centre of the village. The nearest supermarket is located in Prades (7km).
Vernet-les-Bains is a famous French Spa town that was developed from 1846 around the local hot spring waters. The spa resort was visited regularly by the British writer, Ruyard Kipling, author of the Jungle Book. Vernet has a population of around 1,400 people. The town enjoys an average of 300 days of sunshine each year.
Villefranche-de-Conflent is a fortified town, which was founded in 1092 and extensively rebuilt during the 14th and 15th centuries. The hill fort of Fort Liberia sits 150m above Villefranche and was built in 1681, after the French King seized control of this part of the Pyrenees from the Spanish. The fort is connected to the town of Villefranche by an underground staircase of 734 steps built between 1850 and 1853 on the orders of Napoleon III.
The nearby ski resorts of Les Angles and Font Romeu can be accessed in 40 mins. The principality of Andora is a short drive away and the Spanish border is just 50 mins drive.

There is a train station in the nearby town of Villefranche-de-Conflent. There is a local bus service between Perpignan and Vernet-les-Bains.

The nearest airport is located at Perpignan, which is a base for Ryanair flights to London and Brussels.
Girona airport is 1 hour 20 mins away.
Driving directions
Corneilla de Conflent is located 45km from Perpignan, close to the D66 road which stretches all the way up the Pyrenees from Perpignan to the ski resort of Font-Romeu and Andorra.
